How Blue Youth Began

Hi, I am the creator of Blue Youth. My name is Bella Manes and I am a 16 year old high school student from California. I decided in the summer between my sophomore and junior year that I should get some more volunteering done because of all the free time I had. At this time, it was pretty difficult, COVID 19 was preventing me from working with a lot of the organizations that I normally could. I kept searching and searching, and kept getting more and more frustrated when I turned up with basically nothing. I was thinking, there have to be more kids just like me that aren't able to reach their full volunteering potential, thinking about what a waste that was. Then, an idea came to me. What if I created volunteering for young people like myself? Instead of searching endlessly for organizations that could use my help, I could create my own organization and help other teens stuck in my same situation. So, I started thinking about things that I truly cared about and what inspired me, and I began to think about all the marches and protests that I had been to to support BLM and Women's Rights. I came to the realization that gender and race inequality in our country today was something I was really passionate about changing. Then my dad encouraged me to think deeper into it, why was all of this still happening in 2020, how had nothing improved in these past four years? Donald J. Trump. My goal is to inspire and encourage people to raise awareness to these political issues, and hopefully to vote Trump out of office this November. I believe that a new president would be a very good thing for the future of our country. A new president that believes in science and climate change, wants to help minorities, immigrants, and refugees, and wants to further women's and lgbtq+ rights in the U.S. The youth is the future, and we will all soon have the power to change this country for the better, and I think that change starts with getting Donald Trump out of the White House.
